Tesla Accelerates Towards V4 Supercharging Technology in the US!

Tesla is on the move to bring its new V4 Supercharger technology to the US, with reports of installations appearing in the Western part of the country.

The latest charging technology from Tesla promises greater convenience, improved access, and faster recharging speeds than previous generations–with some customers seeing a gain of up to 50%!

With this significant upgrade being carried out across the nation, owners can look forward to their vehicles taking over less time shopping trips and road trips alike. From supercharging centers around cities to reducing re-charge times at local stations–the use cases for V4 are incredibly exciting.

Currently V4 Superchargers are Only Installed in Europe

Tesla's V4 Supercharger is currently only installed in Europe. It is considered the most robust EV charging pile, and Tesla looks to expand its use around the world.

As such, a major step towards that goal has been taken as Tesla is now preparing for their first few V4 Supercharger projects in the United States!

V4 Supercharging technology allows for far higher charge rates than ever before. This enables drivers of Tesla cars to top up even faster at multiple sites making long-distance travel much simpler than with traditional chargers.

The program will roll out over the next few years, so electric car owners can look forward to more places where they can quickly plug in and be on their way!

The First V4 Supercharger Project Surfaced in Wilsonville, Oregon

Tesla is accelerating towards the installation of its new V4 Superchargers in the US, with news surfacing that Tesla has started to install these unique chargers.

The first known installation was spotted in Wilsonville, Oregon—setting off widespread speculation as to what distinguishes them from the older V3 Chargers.

Additional sightings of installations near Tesla’s Gigafactory in Sparks, Nevada were observed shortly after - indicating Tesla’s quick expansion on various projects across North America.

As of the moment, it’s not yet known whether these V4 Superchargers are just being installed or have begun operating.

The V4 Supercharger Architecture is More Power Hungry

The V4 Supercharger Architecture from Tesla is more power hungry compared to its predecessor.

But that should have no bearing in regards to charging your car, as this architecture comes with a considerable increase in power and voltage levels – which allows for faster and safer charging times.

As expected, we’ll be seeing an increased installation of these V4 Superchargers, particularly if it will grant access to non-Tesla drivers too: Tesla has announced that they’ll be opening their Supercharger network up to other Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) come spring 2024.

This may also entice developers into partnering with Tesla in order to promote new electrical vehicle technology - the longer cable length alone from the V4 architecture could improve convenience during charging even for those who do not possess a Tesla car.

The Bottom Line

This move by Tesla to install the V4 Superchargers in the US surely shows their commitment to ongoing innovations for clean transportation and comes as great news for EV users after having already been proved successful all across Europe.

It remains to be seen what other new EV initiatives will come out of this recent move and how it benefits both current and future EV users, as well as other manufacturers!
